Patricia B McBride

Patricia Ruth Baker McBride was born April 13, 1926, in Winslow, Arizona to Isabel Brewer Baker and William W. Baker. She stayed on her horse until the age of 97. She passed away in Grand Junction, Colorado on July 22, 2023, and lived a beautiful life of service to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was the eldest of four siblings and fulfilled her husband’s prediction of being the last of the Bakers to be in the kitchen.

She attended grade school in Phoenix, Arizona and graduated from Flagstaff High School. During the war she went to work for The Phoenix Power Company as office help. On January 7, 1950, she married a handsome WW2 veteran named Clyde Wallace McBride. Together they built a family of five children. Clyde Milo (Shirley), Ellen (John ZoBell), Tarlton Lee (Suzanne), Elaine, and John Devro McBride (2 marriages). She also helped raise her sister’s daughter, Lisa Bristow. She leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren, who each adored her and will miss her homemade desserts. She was preceded in death by her husband (1999), daughters Ellen (1997), and Elaine (1987). She was the type of lady to put her grief to work outside in her garden and inside as an expert homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and donating items of need. She taught her family the value of being prepared and enjoyed

canning food with her friends.

The family began in Phoenix and moved to Fruita, Colorado in 1959 to get the children out of the city and into a country setting as they were involved in raising Appaloosa horses. She went to work after the youngest child began school and worked for 26 years at Ultronix, first on the line and then as a supervisor. She also owned a sewing shop in Fruita called Carrousel. She loved traveling with her family and had a passion for reading and art. She spent countless hours researching genealogy and serving in the temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed participating with her close friends in The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Group.

A funeral service for Patricia will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2542 G Rd., Grand Junction, CO 81505. Following the funeral service will be a burial at 1:30 PM at Elmwood Cemetery, 1175 17 1/4 Rd., Fruita, CO 81521.
