Myron Francis Urquhart

Myron "Sonny" Urquhart passed away at home with his children by his side on January 29, 2015. Sonny was born July 17, 1933 in Drennan, Colorado to Ernest and Melissa Urquhart. He grew up on the homestead where he leard horsebacking, hunting and fishing. He graduated from high school in 1953, his class size totalled 3.

After graduation, he travelled to Nashville and California, but decided to make Grand Junction his home. He worked as a taxi driver, central distributing driver, and mover for a moving company before finding his "niche" as a custodian for the Mesa County School district. He worked over 23 years at Mt. Garfield Middle School. He put in many overtime hours for school activities, dances and the annual Peach Festival Square Dance where he also participated as a dancer.

After retirement you could find Sonny living his life with his golf clubs and camera. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their many activities.

In the many journies and paths his life took, he had 2 children: Linda (Rick) Wolff of Grand Junction and D.J. (Chantal) Urquhart of Delta, Colorado. He has 6 Grandchildren: Richie, Devon, Daryan, Colby, Allen and Chaycelynn.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Chipeta Golf Course, 2:00p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015. Memorial contributions may be made to the Orchard Mesa Youth Bowling League.
