Michael was born in London England on October 2, 1950, to Morris and Jean Simons. Morris was English and Jean haled from Glasgow Scotland. After WWII, Jean’s sister met an American GI from Colorado. After some cajoling, the family, along with Mike’s little brother Douglas, emigrated to Colorado in 1957. In 1966 they all became American Citizens, a very proud day for the Simons Family! They settled in the Denver area where Michael attended Lawrence Elementary, Arvada Junior High and both Arvada and Arvada West High Schools. He graduated from Arvada West in 1968. He then went on to the University of Colorado but ended up dropping out due to the untimely death of his father Morris that same year. Michael went to Mesa Junior College for a year and then decided to enlist in the US Air Force where, after basic training, became a Pharmacy Technician and was stationed at the Airforce Academy in Colorado Springs. He would go on to have a long career as a Registered Pharmacist.
Michael married in 1971. From that marriage came his beautiful daughter Heather. They later divorced. On May 14, 1982, Michael married the love of his life Karen Dodson, they had two beautiful daughters Amanda and Adrienne.
During his youth Michael played the violin and the guitar and became quite an accomplished musician. Michael loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and he shared that devotion by playing in the Praise and Worship group at Church on the Rock. He was also very inquisitive about the technical side of things. He loved chemistry, photography and anything mechanical. He along with his faithful assistant, brother Doug, would take any and everything apart to see how it worked and could rarely get things put back together again. Always inquisitive, Michael was into everything and loved life to the fullest.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Morris and Jean. Survivors include his wife Karen and daughters Heather London-Orenstein (Julian), Mandie Simons (Mike McCann), Adrienne Tirrill (Scott) and brother Doug Simons (Jamee).
