She grew up and attended school in the Meeker and the Rio Blanco area until her early teens, when the family moved to Gateway, CO to mine uranium.
While helping the family mine on the Uncompahgre Plateau, she attended and graduated eighth grade at Gateway. Shortly after this, she met Robert Foster, whose family was also mining uranium. They were married from December 7, 1944 until his death in 1991. They spent many years living in the mining camp on Outlaw Mesa and also maintained a home in Grand Junction, where Marjorie would take their children to go to school.
Marjorie was a licensed beautician and an accomplished seamstress. She attended the First Church of God and the First Assembly of God, and did volunteer work for both. She was always ready to proclaim her love for Jesus and His message of salvation. She is survived by two sons, Dalton (Shari) of Delta and Samuel (Debby) of Fruita; a daughter, Holly (Leon) Moores of Gateway; and nine grandchildren, Ray Moores, Mandy Massey, Mindy Smith, Julie Azcarraga, Andy Moores, Zachery Foster, Seth Foster,Brielle Foster, and Brynley Foster. She has seventeen great-grandchildren, with an eighteenth due to arrive within the next month. She has numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mildred Larson of Oregon, Tookie Foster of Grand Junction, and Sanna Foster of Boulder.
She was preceded in death by a daughter (Georgia) and three sisters, Elphie Harvey, Evelyn Hamrick, and Lois Foster.
A visitation will be held Monday, March 13, 2017 at 12:00 pm with a funeral service at 1:00 pm, both at Martin Mortuary. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marjorie's name to HopeWest Hospice Care Center 3090 N. 12th Street Grand Junction, CO 81506.
