Marianne Amalie Nelson

Marianne was born on April 18, 1926 in Stuttgart, Germany to Eugen and Julie Hennige. As a young

woman, she played the piano and was a champion swimmer. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1952 and

received her Bachelor's degree from Northwood Institute (MI). She was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma

Phi in Michigan and Grand Junction, CO. Marianne was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, cousin and friend

to many. Before her passing she and husband Jim traveled the world and created many happy memories.

She was recently able to spend her 90 birthday with family. She had a fondness for animals and especially

loved birds of all kinds. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband James Nelson of Grand Junction, CO, daughters; Shirley Swan of Thompson's Station, TN and Sharon Swan Cowdrey (Ted) of Franklin, TN, and a sister; Doris Labude (Stuttgart, Germany).
