Maria "Sally" Sanchez

Maria was born in Truchas, NM, to H.M. and Epimenia Ortiz, however, she was raised by her grandparents, JJ and Adelaida Romero.

Maria and her husband raised a son and three daughters. They moved from New Mexico to Minturn, CO. Maria was a homemaker until 1964, when she became employed at the lodge at Vail for 20 years. After her husband's retirement, they moved back to their beloved community of Ojo Sarco, NM, where they resided for five years. In 1988 they decided to make Grand Junction their permanent home.

Maria was a devoted Catholic. She enjoyed listening to music, doing cross word puzzles, talking on the phone with her friends, and was a sports fanatic. She always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by beloved husband, Porfirio; son, Mike; her parents, and sister, Censionita.

Maria is survived by daughters, Lucy (David) Rivera, Clara (Joe) Sandoval, and Loyola Sanchez (Rudy Roybal), daughter-in-law, Jennifer Sanchez, all of Grand Junction; two grandsons; five granddaughters; four great-grandsons; ten great-granddaughters; two great-great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Nancy, Martina, and Ruth, and brothers, H.M. Jr., and Arturo.

Services will be February 10, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Viewing and Rosary at 10:00 a.m., Mass at 11:00 a.m., and burial at Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow at St. Joseph's Community Room.
