Margaret Pearl, simply known as Pearl passed away peacefully at the Sandrock Ridge Care & Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Craig, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the age of 93.

Pearl was born the daughter of Donald Morrel Johnson Sr. and Margaret Emma Kissel in Glenwood Springs, CO, on September 8, 1931.

She lived most of her married life in Craig, with exceptions of a short time in Colorado Springs and Las Vegas, though her fondest memories were as a child in Marble, CO, where her father worked in the quarry.

She had two sons: Ronald Gene Johnson and Michael Dean Johnson and a daughter Annie Laurie (Hickam) - Key.

She married Morris “Murray” Fred Gottfried, March 4, 1984, while he was on electrical work on the Power plant in Craig, retiring as a Union electrician, years later.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, two sisters Donna Mae Kiesling and Doris Marie Reed and two brothers Donald Morrel Johnson Jr. and Douglas William Johnson.

She is survived by her two sons, Ron (Teresa) of Grand Junction, CO, Mike (Cathy) of Cape Girardeau, MO, 6 Grandkids, 8 Great Grandkids, 3 Great Great Grandkids and many nieces & nephews, and wonderful friends.

Pearl loved to tell stories of events in her early life, starting as “I remember when”. She has left this world to share her stories in the house of the Lord. She will be truly missed by those of us left behind.
