Lydia Tate May 13, 1911 – April 5, 2013 Lydia Tate died April 5, 2013, at Mantey Heights Care Center at the age of 101. Lydia Tilula Tate was born May 13, 1911, in Eufaula, OK to William Andrew and Evelyn Raburne Jackson. She lived in Oklahoma and Arkansas and graduated from high school in Corsicana, Texas. Lydia worked in California and Utah where she was a fine operator and supervisor in the business of making canvas items. Lydia moved to Grand Junction in 1948, and married the love of her life, Jack Tate, on August 20, 1949. Jack and Lydia owned and operated Canvas Products Co. for 17 years, retiring in 1982. They liked to travel in Colorado, Utah, and Nevada, and to visit family in Wyoming. Lydia enjoyed reading and photography and was particularly fond of her cats. She was thankful for the help of her dear friends, Paula Owen Wehner, and Jim and Martha Younger. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; two sisters, and one brother. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Charlotte and Maron Davis; Gary Hearne; Cheryl and Vince Bath, and Kim and Carol Hearne, all of Laramie, WY; Jim and Peggy Hearne, and Harriet Yeager of Cheyenne, WY; Marge and Bob Rackham of Corvallis, OR, and Terry and Pam Hearne of Rochester, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of Martin Mortuary. Services will be Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
