Kathy was born November 5, 1958 to Roberta Espinosa, and Frederick Chavez, in Price, Utah. Kathy grew up attending Silt Elementary School, in Silt, CO and graduated from Rifle High School in 1976. She spent some time attending College in Greely, Colorado before coming home to be with family. Kathy returned to Beauty College, and spent 8 years as a beautician in Aspen, Colorado where she fondly recalled some of the famous clientele she once served.
After High School, Kathy soon fell in love and married Thomas Walter Doremus Jr. September 5, 1980 at the Candlelight Chapel, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Three years later their marriage, Kathy and Tom welcomed their son Thomas Shea Doremus, and in another 3 years their second son Joseph Kiley Doremus. After their time in Aspen, Kathy moved to Fruita, Colorado where she opened her own beauty shop for the next 15 years. She unfortunately suffered injuries from a bad car accident and decided it was time to return to school. She graduated, and worked management for Senior Living Centers.
Kathy was a passionate Jehovah’s Witness, and continued to be very active in the church even as she became homebound. She enjoyed her family time, and camping with friends. She was very likable, friendly and is said to have never known a stranger. She quickly made friends anywhere she went.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Thomas Doremus Jr., her two sons Thomas Shea, and Joseph Kiley Doremus; Grandchildren Kali Kia Doremus, Ryker Madix Doremus, and Kiele Von Doremus. Step-father, Robert Herrera; Brothers, Mike and Ralph Chavez; several Nieces, and Nephews, and even more friends.
