Judy was born in 1946 in Colorado Springs to Wallace and Doris Bingham. She graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1964 and went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from Mesa Junior College, a Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins and a Master of Arts degree in Child Development from the University of Northern Colorado.
Judy taught Home Economics at Westminster High School, Longmont Jr High School and Niwot High School. She was a long-term substitute teacher in Steamboat Springs at both the High School and Jr. High teaching Business and Home Ec classes. Judy started a licensed day care when her daughters were young so she could nurture them along with other children. Always interested in the details inspired Judy to pursue her real estate license. She enjoyed serving home buyers through her business in Steamboat Springs and later in Grand Junction.
Being involved in church was always second nature. She was an active member at Steamboat Christian Center in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, for many years, volunteering in everything from teaching kids’ Sunday School classes to coordinating and helping with any and all ministry needs. While attending the Orchard Mesa Vineyard Community Church in Grand Junction, Colorado, Judy was involved with the prayer team as she always took people’s prayer needs seriously and very much trusted in the power of prayers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Wallace Bingham and Doris Wallenberg Greenwood, her stepfather, Ernest Greenwood, and her brother, Gordon Bingham. She leaves behind her two sisters, Debra Davis and Jana Gerow, her husband of 55 years, Richard Duncan, daughters (Dawna & Brenda) and sons-in-law, and five grandchildren.
A service in her honor will be held Monday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Life Community Church in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.callahan-edfast.com for the Duncan family.
