Judith Lynne Markowski

Judith (Judy) Lynne Markowski, 89, long time resident of Clifton, CO passed away March 26, 2025, in Grand Junction, CO. Judith was born in New Cumberland, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Libby Conkle and her husband of 50 years, Willie T. (Bill) Markowski.

Judy was born in New Cumberland, WV. She was the oldest of 3 girls. When Judy was 8, the family moved from Aliquippa, PA to Carlsbad, NM where Judy graduated from Carlsbad Sr High in 1953. She went on to attend Nursing school at St. Francis Hospital and graduated with her LPN. This started her career in nursing, taking care of others and eventually leading to her teaching medical students at TTI (now IntelliTech). She graduated from Mesa College of Grand Junction in 1993 with a B.A. in Business Administration. She was also a Ward secretary at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Her hobbies included cryptograms, cross stitching, crocheting, sewing and reading Psalms and Proverbs. In her early years, she enjoyed rides on the Harley with Bill and then fell in love with the mountains of Lake City, CO where the family spent many summers camping.

Judy is survived by her 3 children; Elizabeth Pettit (Terry) Rio Rancho, NM; Barbara Morgan Escondido, CA; David Markowski Clifton, CO; 5 grandchildren; Rebecca Marquez, Olivia Hagenstein, Christina Peters, Jarod Peters, and Zachary Markowski; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; 2 sisters; Iris Trivitt Tucson, AZ; Karen Ferguson Knox City, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Cele Pederson Rose Garden at Reid Park in Tucson, AZ on April 26, 2025- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Judy’s favorite charity, Operation Smile.
