Juanita Iris Mock Davis was born January 16, 1928 in a log cabin in DeBeque, Colorado.
Her parents were James Curtis and Myrtle Mock who farmed in the DeBeque area. When Juanita was 5, she moved to Leadville, CO.
Juanita is survived by her 2 sons, Kerry Davis (Debbie) and Charles Davis (Jaci), 2 daughters, Janet Davis and Karen McAtlin (Curt), sister Nadine, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
While working at the Beanery restaurant in Grand Junction, she met her beloved husband,
John. They were married on May 8, 1949 in Grand Junction, Colorado and were happily married for 65 years. After John passed away in 2014, with great support from her wonderful friends, family and neighbors, she continued to live alone at her home even though she was mostly blind from macular degeneration.
Juanita led an active life and was involved in many church and sewing groups. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain family and friends, especially for the holidays.
She was an amazing woman always positive, strong willed, happy and had a great sense of humor. Juanita was loved by everyone she met.
Juanita left a legacy with her family and community of forgiveness and love.
A viewing will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at First Christian Church, 1326 N 1st St., Grand Junction, CO at 10:30am. Burial will follow in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1pm.
