John graced us with his presence on Earth for over 2 billion, 593 million, 728,00 seconds. A clever trivia fount and pun lover, his storytelling could entertain or bore the best of us depending on how many PBRs had been consumed.
A longtime resident and businessman of Grand Junction, John was born in Milwaukee and grew up on a sprawling cattle ranch in Snowmass, Colorado, before celebrities like the Kardashians "discovered" it.
John enjoyed spinning yarns with anyone, especially friends and family on Lake Powell or their small family farm in Grand Junction, where he raised his two sons and endlessly entertained his nieces and nephews with hay bale mazes and model boat races.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cathey (Helmig) Pabst, sons John Pabst, Jr. (Sarah) of Kirkland, Washington, and Charles Pabst of Grand Junction, and his five grandchildren, Grace Bordner (Daniel), Grant Pabst, Benjamin Pabst, Leo Pabst, and Thaddeus Pabst.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Hope West or Holy Family School.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held in Spring 2025.
