Helen L Hayes

It is from the bottom of our hearts, at the age of 96, we announce the passing of Helen Cottingham Emery Hayes on 4/6/2025.

Helen was born on 03/30/1929 in the beautiful town of Oceanside, CA, to her loving parents, Luis W. Cottingham, and Edith C. Lincoln. She went on to graduate from Oceanside High School.

After graduating high school , Helen married the love of her life, George E. Emery. Together, they had 4 daughters, whom they loved with all their hearts. Helen and George spent time living between, El Cajon, CA, and Pensacola, FL. Upon George’s passing, she married William Hayes, together they lived between Santee, CA, Borrego Springs, CA, Stanwood, WA, Grand Junction, CO, and Pensacola, FL. After Williams passing, she returned to Grand Junction, where she remained.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Laura (Garry) Shrum, of Farmers Branch, TX, Marsha (Robert) Kopetsky, of Grand Junction, CO, Lisa (Keith) Nedvecki, of Edgerton, WI, Pam (Ted) Griffin, of Cantonment, FL, as well as 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Helen is proceeded in death by her parents, Luis and Edith, her brother, Lloyd Cottingham, and her sisters, Evelyn Cottingham, Joyce Foster, and Doris Ellis.

Helen was beloved by many, and she will be dearly missed.
