Helen Theresa Grantham was born on December 11, 1926 in Bolivar,MO to Fred and Sophia
Pecha.
She married Silas ""Si"" Grantham on January 24, 1948 in Springfield,MO and they moved to Grand Junction in April of 1956. They soon adopted children,Joseph and Theresa and raised their family happily in the Grand Valley. Helen worked for the public school system as a cook at Orchard Avenue Elementary for many years duringthis time.
Helen loved bowling and participated in many state and national tournaments and was on the Board of Directors for the Grand Junction Women's Bowling Associat ion. Her further love of sports was also on display in the many golf tournaments she participated in individually,and with her husband Si. She also assisted Si in sponsoringJUCO teams with the Optimist Club each year and they both attended games on a regular basis.
She was a Cub Scout leader and a Girl Scout leader. She loved crocheting and playing bingo. Helen was very complimentary to everyone and was very kind and caring.
Helen is survived by her son, Jody and his wife Dawn as well as her daughter, Theresa Smatla and her husband Paul. She has four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, all of whom she truly loved and cherished on a daily basis. She was preceded in death by her parents her brother her four sisters and her husband Si.
Services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
