May we all be blessed to have lived a life like Henry. Henry was born May 6th, 1928 in Somerset Colorado and passed away May 20th, 2022 In Grand Junction Colorado. Henry lived in Delta and Somerset. As a kid he sold newspapers on the streets of Delta to help out his family. He had an incredible work ethic that he carried with him his entire life.
Henry graduated Paonia High School in 1946, then went on to join the Navy. He saw active duty in the South Pacific and Asia, at the end of WWII. He never lost his love for traveling and was proud of the fact that he saw much of the Country. He loved his trips to Europe, with one that included meeting first cousins in Pescopagano Italy, where his father Frank was born and raised.
Henry’s priorities were family, God, work, and at the ripe old age of 58 took up the game of golf and played until he was 93. Henry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church in Paonia that spanned close to 80 years, he was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks in Hotchkiss for decades. He was also a proud member of the United Mine Works of America for over 75 years and served many years as treasurer of local 6417.
He was preceded in death by his siblings. He is survived by his wife Barbra Ann (Lemoine) of 69+ years, his four children Guy Jr. (Kathleen), Candace (Mark) Gritz, Craig (Carol), Christopher. His 10 Grandchildren, and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Henry’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on June 15th, at noon at Sacred Heart Church in Paoina, with a Rosary being said for the repose of his soul at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the VA Cemetery at Grand Junction Colorado at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction in Henry’s name is appreciated.
