Glenn Wilson passed away October 8, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital, he was 81.
Glenn was born on June 2, 1931 in Nucla, Colorado from the union of Wilford Watson and Laura Elizabeth Wilson. He attended school in Nucla and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1950. He joined the Marine Corp in 1953 and served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1956. He worked as a Core Driller in his early years and later began a career that would last throughout his life as a farmer raising cattle.
Glenn married Gloria Ray Garbett on May 4, 1957 and they later divorced. Glenn then met Janet Burkey and she became his partner for the past nine years.
Glenn was a member of the Grand Junction community for 48 years and a member of the Moose’s Lodge, VFW Post 1247 and the Eagles. He enjoyed dancing, home improvement projects and was very proud of the care he gave his home and yard.
Glenn Leaves behind a son; Glen Jay (Michelle) Wilson of Meeker, CO, two daughters; Gloria Ann (Rick) Eller of Runaway Bay, TX, Mary E. Wilson of Grand Junction, three brothers; Beecher W. Wilson, Gene W. Wilson, Galen L. Wilson all of Grand Junction, a sister; Aileen Jaynes of Rencon, GA, six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Wilson.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 3-6:00 PM at Martin Mortuary. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the mortuary. Graveside services with military honors will take place at 1:00 PM at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
