Geneieve Gilda Leigh Martinez Sepehrnia

Born in Durango Colorado, passed away on March 8th 2021 in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Gena was born in Durango on April 24, 1955 to Ann Roman Martinez and David Robert Martinez. She studied at Fort Lewis College and UC Berkeley. Gena worked for Pacific Bell and Mountain Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company from 1975 to 1996. She served as the Contractual Vice President for Pacific Bell, Union Steward, and Chief Steward at Communication Workers of America from 1977-1996.

Gena is preceded in death by her parents, Ann and Bob Martinez, and Brothers Robert, Corbin and St. Jude (Roman).

Gena is survived by her Brother, Perry, her nephews, Connan, and Carlos Martinez and her

Nieces, Karenna, and Anita Martinez.

Gena is also survived by the family of Gil and Mary Lou Roman, Tony Roman, Sophia Anaya, and Lara Max.

She maintained familial ties with her Mother’s adopted siblings, Cidelia Atencio and Don Atencio.

Gena’s living family also includes Stephan Sahar Sepehrnia and his extended family, numerous cousins and extended families across the United States and abroad. Gena celebrated her lifetime relationship with Erna Pahe and her family.

Above all, Gena was passionate, selfless within her relationships with family and friends. She maintained relationships across many generations by sharing her unconditional love and strength. She was a devoted listener, and she knew just what to say to lift your spirits, make you laugh or give you hope. Gena’s life was guided by unrivaled integrity and strengthened her sense of resilience which carried her through the repeated loss of her family. Gena was known for her God given artistic talent. She created many beautiful paintings, sketches and pieces of jewelry. She truly put her heart and soul into everything and everyone she loved.
