Dawna Jean O'Rourke June 4, 1935 - February 28, 2013 Dawna Jean O'Rourke passed away on February 28, 2013, in Grand Junction. She was 77 years old. Dawna was born on June 4, 1935, in Telluride, CO to Walter and Mildred (Record) Larson. She grew up in the Telluride area, graduating from Telluride High School. She attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree. Dawna was a teacher in Colorado Springs. She was a government employee for 12 years and a homemaker. She married Jerry O'Rourke on June 18, 1960, in Telluride, CO. They resided in Colorado Springs; Denver; Cheyenne, Wyoming; and Grand Junction. Dawna had a love for many things in life. She enjoyed jeep rides in the Telluride mountains, spending time in their cabin in Trout Lake, CO, traveling with Jerry, attending the symphony and playing cards with her closest friends. She had an unwavering faith and love for the Lord. Dawna was a Deacon, an Elder, and a Stephen Minister in her church. She was a member of Eastern Star. She was happiest being with her family and would often comment that the light in her life was spending time with her grandchildren. Dawna is survived by her family, who loved her dearly, husband, Jerry; daughter, Kathy (Fred) Stonestreet; son, Kevin (Barbara); daughter, Amy (Adam) Esch; five grandchildren, Samantha, Ellie, Emma, Liam, and Christopher; brother, Donald (Charlotte) Larson, and seven grandpuppies. A church memorial service will be on March 7, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church. She will be laid to rest in Telluride in the summer.
