David Ramon Torrez, age 76, passed away at Hopewest Hospice in Grand Junction, Colorado on June 23rd, 2024. He was born in Center, Colorado to Fred and Cecila Torrez. He has two surviving brothers, John Torrez and Larry Torrez, and two surviving sisters, Marie Laload and Ellen Ball.
David graduated from Fruita High School in 1966, then he joined the United States Army in 1970. He has three surviving children, Tessie Lee Torrez (Cory Harris), Tina Louise Torrez (Adalin Reyes), and David Ramon Torrez Jr. David served bravely in the Vietnam War. He made a career in the army, serving for over 23 years.
David received a job at the VA Medical Center working in housekeeping for 17 years. He loved to tell his family housekeeping stories while everyone sat around the table laughing.
He loved all seven of his grandchildren, Joseph R. Torres, Nathan T. Torres, Jasmine L. Jones, Brittany M. Torres, Vincent Torres, Brand M. Torres, and Destiny A. Jones. He also had six great-grandchildren, Jada, Kayla, Kambri, Lily, Tony, and London. Later in life, David met his best friend, Doris Wilson, they spent 17 wonderful years together along the way he met her six beautiful children, Connie and John Bernhart, Lee Neece, Colleen and Ray Neece, Bryon and Gerda Wilson, Ron Wilson, and Dale Wilson.
