David Ray Davis

David Ray Davis, born on February 12, 1952, passed away on July 4, 2024 surrounded by his family.

He was the son of Ray and LaVone Davis and grew up alongside siblings Terry, Mike, and Linda in the Denver metro area. Dave attended Iver C. Ranum High School before pursuing a career as a Master Electrician. Dave married Sherri Bearden in 1971, sharing eighteen years of marriage and together raising their daughters, Shannon and Jennifer. Later, he enjoyed a second marriage with Darlene Davis. Dave relished his time with grandchildren, Nikki Nichols, Damian Lovelace and Chance Davis and pets Spirit, Mojo and Wiggles.

If you looked up the word “Handyman,” you’d find a picture of Dave. He was someone who made treasure out of anything, and you can bet his projects will last for generations. He could fix anything and build anything, notably creating a sanctuary in Rangely in 1995 where he held frequent yard sales filled with the collectibles and treasures, he found.

A heart of gold with an ornery streak, Dave was well-loved by anyone who met him. He gave that love back through time spent with friends and family, enjoying homemade meals, and putting his all into any favor asked of him.

Dave worked hard and played hard too. He enjoyed hanging out and talking with friends about the good ole days. He especially loved fishing and hunting with his family and friends. You would always find Dave outside tinkering with a project.

Thanks to an unending sense of humor, you could count on Dave to crack a joke that occasionally went too far. Sometimes cantankerous and gruff, Dave could push the buttons of those close to him - his way of creating connection and seeing the true colors of those he loved. While Dave dealt with physical pain and mental health struggles, the qualities that were easy to love shined through into his last days.

Finally free of pain, he is back home where he can rest, reflect on his life here on earth, and look down on those who will never forget the unique expression that was Dave Davis.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate David's life will be held on July 27th at 1:00 PM at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Rd, Grand Junction CO followed by a committal service at Palisade Cemetery 3529 Front Street, Palisade, CO
