She was born to Ben and Lois Monger on September 17, 1942 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and grew up alternating homes between Steamboat Springs and Grand Junction as her daddy ranched in Steamboat in the summers and worked winters as a carpenter in Grand Junction. After graduating high school in Grand Junction, Darline met her husband Keith Lampshire. They married on August 26, 1961 and had one daughter, Deletha.
Darline dearly loved her family, fishing and camping, painting, flowers, her pets, sunshine, and her many friends. She was a talented artist, florist and skilled business woman owning and operating a successful jewelry and wedding flower business for many years. Her extensive knowledge of gemstones and business acumen earned her the nickname “Diamond Dar”. One of her greatest joys was treating her family to a lavish Christmas Eve dinner every year at a beautiful upscale downtown Denver restaurant, sharing the profits from her hard work in a characteristic gesture of generosity, love and togetherness.
Darline and Keith lived in Littleton, Colorado, Beaverton, Oregon and Ahwatukee, Arizona during their 53-year marriage. Dar was happiest in Arizona; she loved the hot weather, their lovely home, and the beautiful desert landscape (but didn’t like Reggie the dachshund who lived next door). She had fun playing keno and slot machines at the area’s casinos and was uncannily lucky. Dar graciously shared her winnings with her friends, family, and children’s charities. One could always count on their home being an oasis of fun, warmth, contagious laughter and unending hospitality for all who visited.
Darline is survived by her daughter Deletha Assenmacher (Patrick Pevoto), brother Maurice Monger (Patricia), grandchildren Michaela Graber, Isabella Pevoto, Andrew Pevoto, Peter Pevoto, and Benjamin Pevoto (Ellen), great granddaughter Charley Pevoto, nephews Ricky Monger (Betty), Mike Mantlo (Angie), nieces Denise Latta (Chris), and Janet McCall (Joey). She was preceded in death by her husband Keith, parents Ben and Lois Monger, sister Benita Pringle, niece Dala Hacker (Brian) and nephew Kevin Pringle.
A celebration of life service will be held on June 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction followed by the internment at New Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita.
