Claude was born on September 16, 1936, in Olney Springs, Colorado, to Willis Martin and Marguerite (Burrell) Gribble. He spent his childhood in Olney Springs, and in 1959, Claude enlisted in the US Army until his honorable discharge from the Army Reserves in 1965. On May 24, 1961, Claude married Georgia Allen in Grand Junction. Sadly, Georgia preceded him in death on August 30, 2022. They were residents of Mesa County for over 70 years. Claude worked as a safety inspector and heavy equipment operator. He and Georgia were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Claude enjoyed playing several instruments such as the mandolin, banjo, harmonica, and ukelele and even got to play with Jimmy Dean.
Claude is survived by his son, Michael Gribble of Fruita; daughters, Peggy Hindman of Grand Junction, Claudia Hensch of Great Falls, Montana, and Rita Lauck of Grand Junction; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will take place at Martin Mortuary on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with a celebration of life to honor both Claude and Georgia Gribble starting at 11:00. Graveside services will follow at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
