Most knew him as lazydog. He was a man with a huge heart. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, rendezvous, and spending time with his family. If he wasn’t doing any of these things, he was sitting at a picnic table somewhere with his mother-in-law, drinking Kahlua and cream.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Fern “Bunny”; sons, Billy (Sarah) Haynes and Jimmy (Justice) Smith; daughter, Lexi Smith; and grandchildren, Natalie, Alicia, Saige, Kolt, and Silver
.
He is also survived by his brothers, Gerald (Kathy) of California and Lester of Grand Junction; sisters, Gloria Recio and Mary Christenson of Grand Junction, and Rose Thompson of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a carpenter by trade, he built many houses throughout the valley.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Smitty (Chris) Smith; mom, Dolores Smith; in-laws, LaVern and Gracie Bell; brother-in-laws, Roy and Tom Young; and son-in-law, Taylor Bromley.
