Carole Sheetz, known to all as the World's Greatest Oma, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, to be reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Paul Sheetz; grandsons Joshua and Andre Steele; and many family members and friends who have preceded her into paradise.
Born on September 27, 1939, near Sigourney Iowa, to Cloyd and Erma Grimes, Carole was the cherished sister of Jim Grimes, Kathryn Berg, and Donna Fenske.
Carole met Paul and the rest is history!
Together, they went on to build a life full of fun and adventure.
First came love, then came marriage June 1, 1958, and then came their three children:
Jim Sheetz (Allison), Jerry Sheetz, and Julianne Sheetz (Tim).
Carole is survived by her children, her grandchildren Jennifer Ballagh (Preston), Aliesha Sutherland (Luke), and Rachael Sheetz-Mitchell (Brian), and her great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Kyrie, Roman, Vanessa, Antonio, Mia, Olive, and Vada. She is also survived by her sister Donna (Homer, AK), numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved pets, Muffin the dog and Fat Mary the cat.
Carole and Paul were the proud owners of Adams Vacuum from 1975 to 1994, where they became well-known in the Grand Valley.
Carole had a zest for life, enjoying travel with her family and embarking on many adventures across Europe and the U.S. She also loved sewing, playing golf, and was an avid reader. Above all, Carole adored her role as a grandmother, and in 2007, when her first great-grandchild was born, she proudly announced her promotion to "Oma."
A private family celebration of Carole's life will be held in the near future, with cheeseburgers and beer for the adults, and ice cream for the kids; just as she would have wanted! A private burial service in Iowa will take place at a later date, where she will rest alongside Paul for eternity.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Carole’s love of giving.
