Betty M. Karp, 85, was born March 20, 1932 in Phillipsburg, KS to Bill and Marie Balbach.
They came to the lower valley when she was a young child. She attended the local schools in the lower valley, Redlands and Grand Junction area.
Betty met Laurence Karp in Grand Junction, CO and they were married on February 26, 1953. They were married 64 years. During that time Betty worked numerous administrative positions for the Daily Sentinel for close to 30 years. Betty and Laurence owned Bear Frame and Axle in Grand Junction for about 40 years both retiring in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Calvin and nephew Terry. She is survived by her husband Laurence; In-laws, Jim and Bonnie Karp of Grand Junction and Rose Ann McCormick of Sandy, Utah, numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, Teresa Anson and family, whom she loved like a “daughter" and many loving and caring friends. Betty enjoyed reading her romance novels, cooking, hand crafts and visiting with family.
Betty recently became ill and she passed away peacefully knowing her family was by her side. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be held at Memorial Gardens on Friday March 31 at 10:00 a.m.
