She spent her youth on the Front Range of Colorado graduating from Calhan High School.
April moved to Grand Junction in 2010, and met the love of her life Will Votruba in February 2011. April and Will were blessed with two wonderful children Alaina Kay, and William (Liam) Allen. April was a loving mother and adored her children. She was a stay-at-home mother for the past 6 years following work for the US Postal Service for several years.
April was also the bonus mom, cousin, friend, and aunt to many young adults. She listened to their problems, encouraged them to find resolutions, and sometimes just fed them and watched movies with them.
April was compassionate and caring, she had several really close friends that she considered to be adopted sisters, two who were the closest were Alyssa and Jen.
April was a wonderful artist, she made amazing drawings and loved making craft items. She collected pigs, loved windchimes, and tried often to keep plants alive with varying degrees of success.
April is survived by her husband, William (Will) A. Votruba, her daughter Alaina, son Liam all of Grand Junction, Colorado; her mother and step father Cheri and Bob Shoemaker, sisters Heather and Katie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and brother JJ of Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her sister Jenna.
