Anne M. Taylor died April 7, 2023 at the age of 97. Anne Madeline Taylor was born on July 4, 1925 in Kemmerer, Wyoming to Konstantin and Stefanija (Budna) Podlesnik. She graduated from Kemmerer High School and worked as a secretary for the County Nurses and then worked for the Kemmerer Gazette at the front desk as a proofreader. She then left to become a telephone operator and met her future husband through a co-worker’s boyfriend. On May 22, 1948 Anne married the love of her life Paul Howard Taylor in Kemmerer, Wyoming. They were married for 64 years. Three
children were born to this union, James, Kathleen and Paula. They were all born in Wyoming and lived there until 1966 when Paul accepted a transfer to Grand Junction, Colorado with the Bureau of Reclamation.
Anne became a homemaker after marrying Paul. After moving to Grand Junction she volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital as a Gray Lady for many years until St. Mary’s made her part of their staff. She enjoyed golfing with Paul, bowling, putting together puzzles, fishing, cooking and sharing recipes; teaching her family to knit, cook, crochet, sew and embroidery. She was one of the most welcoming and loving women who was famous for her “pink cake” for birthdays. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who put her family first.
She was preceded in death by her parents Konstantin and Stefanija Podlesnik, brothers Steve Podlesnik, John Podlesnik, Jack Podlesnik, sister Konnee (Podlesnik) Merchant, her beloved husband Paul Taylor, son-in-law John Snyder and grandson Brian Snyder. Anne is survived by her devoted children, James (Nancy) of Turkey, NC; Kathleen of Hutchinson, KS and Paula of Grand Junction, CO; four grandchildren Robert (Julia) Snyder; Amy (Rayno) Abang; Scott Bradford; Stephanie (Kees) Vermeulen; and eight great-grandchildren Lauren and Kara; Edward, Gabriel, and Raymie; Cylus, Jayden and Aria.
Visitation is will be held April 14, 2023 from 1pm-2pm at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction. A funeral service will be held at 2p.m. Friday, April 14, 2023 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction.
