Alice Amber Williams, 8, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away after a brave struggle with childhood cancer on December 12, 2023, at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Alice was born September 22, 2015, in Grand Junction during the final few hours of summer and before the first sunrise of fall. Alice was a proud 2nd grade Broadway Bear at Broadway Elementary, and served as an ambassador for the Morgan Adams Foundation, a non-profit that funds kids’ cancer research.
Alice was a kind, friendly, spirited, feisty, stubborn, and fiercely independent child, but above all funny and happy. She had a goofy sense of humor and brightened the days of so many, including complete strangers she would compliment. She liked amusement parks and heights, always wanting to get taller “next year” to ride the big rides. A favorite memory is riding the gondola and zipping down the mountain on the alpine coaster with her on her 8th birthday. She loved school (and school lunch), Happy Meals, strawberry shakes, and especially breakfast (pancakes and oatmeal with all the fixin’s). She enjoyed watching her favorite movies and cartoons, including Frozen, Encanto, and Bluey, as well as dancing to Taylor Swift songs. Her favorite color was red and she enjoyed cheering for “the good red team” – and sometimes the “orange team”. She liked animals and enjoyed walking her mutt, Mesa, and telling others about her pony, Blaze.
Happy to have shared her too-short life with her are her parents, Garrett Williams and Naomi Rintoul, and little brother Hugh. She is survived by grandparents Dale and Katy Williams of Prairie City, SD; Robert and Dianna Sitz of Cando, ND; William Rintoul of Hua Hin, Thailand; great-grandma Jean Sitz; uncle Ryan (Janet) Williams; aunts Serena (Nick) Heig and Cory (Thom) Chivers; numerous cousins, who Alice adored; friends, classmates, and neighbors.
In recent months, when waiting to do something or go somewhere, Alice would often say “Come on, I don’t have all day you know”… sadly, she was right. A memorial fund for adaptive playground equipment at her school is planned.
