Yvonne Abernathy

Yvonne Abernathy, age 92, of Flint Michigan passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 peacefully at home. Yvonne was born May 15, 1930 to the late Clarence and Grace (Mallory) Overholt in Burton, Michigan. She worked at the YWCA and Michigan Bell Telephone Company. And on March 9, 1953 she married Berl E. Abernathy. Yvonne was a member of Open Door United Methodist Church. She was an inspiration to many with her kindness and joyfulness, and she was well known for her beautiful smile. Yvonne proudly achieved her high school diploma at the age of 65, the top of her class, receiving straight A's. She also attended Mott Community College. She is survived by her daughter, Molly of Flint and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Berl E. Abernathy, parents, four brothers and two sisters. On Monday, April 17, 2023 at Open Door United Methodist Church - 4010 Lippincott Blvd. Burton Michigan, Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. Inurnment to take place at a later date at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint. Memorial Contributions may be made to Open Door United Methodist Church.
