John McKenzie, 74, of Grand Blanc MI died in Southaven Mississippi on November 16th surrounded by friends and family.
John was born in Liverpool, New South Wales on March 3rd, 1949, to Ellen and William McKenzie. He was the only son of 7 children. He joined the Royal Australian Airforce when he was 16 years old. During his nine years in the Air Force, he served 12 months in Vietnam. It was during his time with the Air Force that he received his career training. He worked in various places throughout his life, finishing his working career at FedEx as an aircraft avionics engineer.
John met the love of his life Jenny while they were both working at the local RSL (Retired Service League) Club. They were married on the 25th of May 1996. Shortly after being wed, they had their first child, William J. McKenzie. Closely followed by the birth of their daughter Alexandra E. McKenzie. As a family of 4 they embarked on a lifelong journey moving from Sydney Australia to the U.S.
John was preceded in death by his parents William and Ellen (nee. Delaney) McKenzie, sisters Margaret Berkeley, Diane Strong, and Maureen Smith. He is survived by wife, Jennifer, children William & Alexandra, sisters Rhonda Whiteman, Susan (Doug) Russel, Karen (James) Holmes and many nieces and nephews.
William “John” McKenzie’s service will be held Saturday November 25th. Visitation will begin at 11AM with the service to follow at 1PM, Hill Funeral Home 11723 South Saginaw Street Grand Blanc, MI 48439.
