Steve "Butch" Romankewiz

Stephan J. "Butch" Romankewiz passed away September 16, 2023 after a well fought battle with dementia. Stephan was born April 24, 1941 in Lansing, MI to Stephan and Eula Romankewiz. He graduated from St Mary's Catholic school. He married his wife, Mary (Wright) in 1965.

After working for GM for a short time, Steve enlisted in the United States Marine Corps were he would eventually reach the E5 rank. He served his country as an active duty Marine from 1961-1965 and as a reservist through 1967. He served as a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America. He loved sharing his knowledge with future generations. He loved watching his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their school events.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Judy McDaniel and Donna Sees, sister-in-law Betty Goodrich, brother-in-law James Reid, his granddaughters Emily and Kaley Romankewiz, and his beloved dog Maggie. He is survived by his loving wife, sons Steve (Melissa) Romankewiz, Dave (Lauren) Romankewiz, and Tom (Alayna) Romankewiz, grandchildren Madie, Megan, and Matthew Romankewiz, brothers Rick (Kim) Romankewiz, Jeff (Linda) Lugo, and sister Jane (Mark) Sprague, sister-in-law Sue Reid, and brother-in-law Bob Wright and his dog Buddy.

A celebration of life will be held on September 21, 2023 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI.

The family will greet guests from 1:00pm until time of memorial service at 3:00pm. Military honors to be rendered following service. Inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 10:30am. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hillfh.com for the Romankewiz family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Compassus Hospice Care in Grand Blanc or the Alzheimer's Association.
