Robert David Scott passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2020. He was a loving husband to Eileen and father to sons Mark, Gregg and Bruce. Bob was born in Risley, England on July 27, 1925 to Chalmers and Teresa Scott. In 1926 he and his mother returned to Flint, Michigan where Bob grew up attending Longfellow Elementary and Junior High School and graduating from Flint Tech in 1943. Bob was a proud WWII veteran, enlisting in the United States Army in 1944 and served in Europe for 10 months including participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He married Eileen Joy Moran on August 25, 1951 in Flint and moved to Grand Blanc, Michigan in 1968. They were happily married for 68 years.
Bob went to the apprentice program at Chevrolet and took classes at General Motors Institute earning high marks. He worked as a tool and die engineer at Chevrolet for 35 years retiring in 1981. He was a Mason, member of the American Legion, the University of Michigan Alumnae Association and the Grand Blanc United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees. Bob was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking, carving and was an enthusiastic University of Michigan fan.
He is survived by wife, Eileen (Moran) Scott, sons: Mark David (Dorna) Scott of North Las Vegas, NV, Gregg Alan Scott of Grand Blanc, Bruce Robert (Anita) Scott of Tempe, AZ; sister Shirley (Robert) Florine of Flint; grandchildren: Stephanie Scott of Ann Arbor, Robert (Jenny) Scott of Las Vegas, Jacob Robert Scott of Chandler, AZ, Lianna Marie Scott of NY, Ian Robert Scott of Tempe AZ and nephew David (Sharon) Florine.
The family would like to give special thanks to Frank Maxwell, Ruth and Dale Fitch, Gina Briscoe, Linda Wade, GBUMC, his devoted caregivers Karen Goodrich and Maggie Sims, Ascension Home Care Team and Hospice from Ascension at Home who provided care at the very end.
At a later date, Bob's remains will be inurned with military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery as well as Sunset Hills Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Grand Blanc Methodist Church, the VA, or Hospice Ascension at Home, 5445 Ali Dr., Grand Blanc.
