R. Donald Markee

R. Donald (Don) Markee, Sr. of Grand Blanc, MI, age 85, died Friday, August 27, 2021. Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Hill Funeral Home 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI from 10am to 12pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Don was born February 13, 1936 at home in Flint, MI to Alvy and Louise Markee. He married Alice Schanick on March 3, 1956. He and his brother Jim Markee, founded Markee Electric, Inc. in 1965 and worked there until 1989. He enjoyed traveling with his wife of 65 years and traveled all 50 states, Japan, Europe and several times to Canada for fishing trips. Don grew up farming and farming was always in his blood. Don was a pilot and enjoyed flying a plane. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and, of course, golf, for which he had 4 hole in ones. In addition, he his trips to the casino. Don loved his family, and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Surviving are: wife, Alice; 3 sons, Don Markee, Jr., Mike (Jill) Markee and Tom (Sue) Markee; special daughter Sandy Tracy; 5 grandchildren, Jon Markee (Shane Foley), Katie (Brian) Benson, Joe Markee, Phil (Sarah) Markee and Dana Markee; brother Dave (Sue) Markee and sister Judy (Ken) Tippitt; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Louise Markee, father Alvy Markee, sister Wannie (Amos) Gary, sister Jean (Bud) Key and brother Jim (Dodie) Markee.
