Services will be 12 Noon, Saturday, August 20, at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd, Grand Blanc Michigan Family will be received at 9:30 with open visitation from 10:00-11:45. Burial following the service will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 3415E. Hill Rd. Grand Blanc. Michigan

She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Reed, father, Stanley Shirkey, stepfather Norris C. Reed, and stepbrother Donald N. Reed. Nancy is survived by her brother Kenneth Shirkey and spouse, Martha, Stepsister Beatrice Reed, Nephew and Niece Dr. Donald N. Jr and Joellen Reed, and numerous cousins and grand nieces and nephews.

Nancy was born in Otter Lake Michigan and attended Lakeville Community High School. She was a graduate of Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University and served as a teacher and school psychologist for Putnam County Florida for 26 years. Though she never married family and especially the children were very important to her. She was proud of the deep family roots that helped found Lapeer County. She often would return to Michigan to connect with family and friends. She had a gift for art, especially oils, and a passion for animals. She was a giving person and loved charitable giving for both people and animals. In the last few years, Nancy moved to Kentucky from Florida to be near her brother Kenneth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to her two favorite charities: the humane society or the Gateway Center for World Mission
