Visitation will be from 11AM-12PM on Saturday, September 5, 2015 followed by a memorial service at 12PM at Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw St. Grand Blanc, MI. The family will continue to enjoy the company of guests following the memorial service until 3PM. Evangelist Mary McClellan will be officiating. Mary was born on March 13, 1929 in Uniondale, Ontario, Canada to John and Mabel (Gleason) Tomlinson. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in London, Ontario in 1952. Mary and Allan F. Randall (of Detroit, MI) were united in marriage in 1954. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 9, 2009. In 1995 Mary became an ordained priest for the Community of Christ Church. She was the past president of the Michigan State Chiropractic Auxiliary and of the Genesee County Chiropractic Auxiliary. Our mother was a kind, loving soul who dedicated her life to the service of others. She grew up on a farm and had a solid work ethic. She loved her time as an RN and worked in the Operating Room at Flint General. Once she started a family she began sharing her time and talent with children in the inner city and then expanded her skills to her neighborhood pond Pinewood Beach and Tennis Club where for the past 20 years she assured her neighbors had a safe, fun place to share quality family time. Mary was an artist and loved her weekly pottery class for over 45 years! She treasured Guy Adamac her teacher and friend, along with her classmates and created beautiful works of art. She was also a weaver for over 35 years! She shared this talent at Camp Quality teaching young cancer patients how to weave small baskets. Mary was dedicated to her family and community and was very involved in her church work at the Community of Christ Church. Additionally, she hosted 3 exchange students Ditta, Sara, and Svenja and a foster child Michele. She loved these young ladies a great deal along with her own children to the ends of the earth. She will be remembered by many for so many things but most importantly her great love of life, her fellowman, her strong faith, as well as her creative spirit that changed the color of this world. Surviving are her children, Vicki Randall, Rick (Audra) Randall, Marsha (Steve) Schmit, Sharon (Alan) Himelhoch, and Eric (Vicki) Randall; grandchildren, Dana (Wade) Marshall, Ashley, Sydney, Joseph, Jill, Ava, Hannah, Hailey, and Oliver; great-grandchildren, Jack and Perri; and sister, Ruth Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allan Randall; brothers, Joseph and Ronald Gleason; and exchange student, Ditta. Those desiring may make contributions to the Flint Institute of Arts or a charity of their choice. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.hillfh.com.
