Margaret Hemphill was born on July 25, 1932 in Lawrenceville, Georgia to Mr. Alonzo and Lillie Stafford. She was one of eight siblings and is survived by 2 brothers and 1 sister. She met and married the late Donald Moon and he pre deceased her on November 3, 1963. To that union Sandra was born. On October 14, 1967 Margaret and Frank were married and to that union Shauna was born. Margaret was the loving mother of 2 daughters Mrs. Kenneth (Sandra) Powers and Ms. Shauna Hemphill, Grandmother to Grand-daughter Mrs. Derrick (Chavaunn) Hardeman Jr. and Great Grandmother to Dallas and Dakotah. Margaret was a graduate and valedictorian of Hopper Renwick High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia where she began her love for education. Mrs. Margaret was retired from Saginaw Child Development and Buena Vista School System as an Assistant Teacher dedicated to student support in the Computer Lab for below grade level students in the area of Reading. Sister Margaret was a dedicated member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully as a spiritual leader under the direction of Pastor Robert B. Corley and Pastor Paul E. Broaddus as the B.T.U Secretary, youth director, Superintendent of Sunday School, Member of the Nurses Guild, President of the Mission, Corresponding secretary of the Mission, Coordinator of the Junior choir and usher boards, Director of the Youth Revival and Banquet for the High School Graduates, Assistant in Vacation Bible School, Chairperson for the Valentine’s Day Tea, and Coordinator of the Women’s and Girls Seminar. As well as serving her Church family Margaret was an active and dedicated member of her community serving as a member of Church Women United, Leadership of the United Sisterhood Conference and a past member of the Women’s Progressive Club of Saginaw. Margaret was a true gem and value to her community and saw her service as an honor by serving on the Saginaw Valley District Association for the Historian committee, member of the woman’s auxiliary, Assistant teacher and Assistant Youth Director with the Congress of Christian Education, and a Mentor for the host program at Jessie Loomis Elementary School. Her hobbies included reading, and relaxing. Margaret spent her later years in the care of Luther Manor Nursing home where she transitioned peacefully from this life at 1:45pm April 4th 2016. She will be sadly missed. A funeral service will take place at 11am on Friday, April 8, 2016 at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church (2930 Janes Ave., Saginaw, MI). Visitation will be held on Friday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10am. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Hill Funeral Home (11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI) from 7-8pm.
