MANN, Jim Howard – age 88 of Grand Blanc, MI, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at McLaren Hospital in Flint, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 1PM-4PM & 5PM-8PM. A Masonic Service will be held at 7PM. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 12PM at Brown Funeral Home – 1480 E. Hill Rd. Grand Blanc, MI with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will take place at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris, MI. Jim was born in Gideon, MO on July 10, 1927, the 10th and youngest child of Jesse and Stella (Fisher) Mann. Jim was an elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been baptized in 1935. He retired after 25 years from General Motors – AC Delco, in the Springs Division. Having lived in California, he helped construct many of the highways, earned his “wings” as a lumberman, and then returning to Missouri to work barge repairs on the Mississippi River. He was a WWII veteran of the Navy, having been stationed in Cocoa Beach, FL. After the war, he returned home and graduated from Gideon High School, Class of 1948. He married Barbara Sanford on June 1, 1963. Jim was a member of Goodrich Masonic Lodge #548 with fellow masonic brother Michael Benjamin Lavelle. His hobbies included being a member of EAA (Environmental Aircraft Association) and Dalton Airport in Flushing, MI. He had dreams of finishing the plane he was building in his barn. He was a Ham Radio operator, call sign N8TDN, and he had a tower which he never thought was high enough. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Mann; daughters, Lisa Vliet, Stacey (Keith) Aslin, and Cynthia Mann; children from his previous marriage, Carol Jean (Michael) Pacheco, Jim Howard (Linda) Mann, Ronald Steven (Rae Ann) Mann, and Jeffrey Bret (Paula) Mann; 16 grandchildren, Brianna, Nathan, and MaKayla and their father, Brian Vliet, David and Nicholas Aslin, Keirstin Mann, Ronald, Sherry, and LaRhonda Stacey, Brian and Elizabeth Mann, Megan Mann, Alisha, Adam, Benjamin, and James Mann; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; all nine of his siblings, Vivian (William) Lunbeck, Jesse Lenora (Charles Livingston), Lowell (Lela) Mann, Johnny Clarence ( 1)Mary and 2) Virginia) Mann; four siblings that passed away in infancy, Neva, James Franklin, Bonnifay, and Samuel Martin.
