Burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park. Gloria was born August 12, 1929 in Flint, MI to the late Elmer and Margaret (Hatcher) Bernard. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1946 and attended GMI. Gloria began a long and successful career as a bookkeeper first for Security Credit Union, and then retired from Buick Local 599. She did all of this while raising 5 children. After retirement, she did volunteer work for McLaren Hospital, enjoyed spending time with her late husband Jim, and often traveled to the west coast to visit her daughters and their families. Gloria had many hobbies and interests throughout the years. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook - her specialty being her spaghetti sauce that the family still makes! She loved reading, needlework, antique club, and socializing with her many life-long friends. However, Gloria took her greatest pleasure in her family, keeping them all near and dear to her heart. Gloria is survived by her children; Conrad Jay Hartman of Flint, Christina (Dave) Frutiger of Gig Harbor, WA., Elizabeth (George) Trubey of Little Rock, CA., and Kurt (Debra) Hartman of Davison, grandchildren; Eric, Adam, Andrew, Shelby, Raelyn, Mark, Kyle, Emily, two great-granddaughters and another one on the way. She also leaves behind her two loving stepdaughters; Sharon Halliday of Grand Blanc, Barbara (Dave) Karr of Davison, and their extended families, all whom loved her warm and generous spirit too. She was preceded in death by her parents; Elmer and Margaret Bernard, husband James Collins, son; Mark Hartman of Lapeer. Gloria was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply and dearly missed. The family would like to especially thank the wonderful staff at her care facility for taking such great care of her. Those desiring may make contributions to The Shelter of Flint.
