Edgardo was born December 26, 1941, in Manila Philippines to the late Dr. Angel and Priscilla (Gaddi) Paguio. Edgardo had many career accomplishments, including a Medical Doctorate from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines; general practice in the Philippines from 1964 - 1966; medical certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1973; Section Chief of Angiography and Special Procedures Section at the University of Illinois, as well as Consultant in Angiography in Chicago, Illinois from 1972 - 1974; Staff Radiologist at Theodore Sachs Clinic in Chicago, Illinois from 1972 - 1974, and at Hurley Medical Center from 1974-1984; Partner Radiologist at Diagnostic Radiology Associates of Flint, P.C. 1984 - 1993, and at Associated Radiologists of Flint, P.C. from 1994 - 2018.
Dr. Edgardo Paguio was a well-respected physician that was involved in many memberships, including the American College of Radiology, American Medical Association, American Roentgen Ray Society, Genesee County Medical Society, Michigan State Medical Society, Michigan Radiological Society, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and Radiology Society of North America. He earned many prestigious awards, most notably the Excellence in Residency Teaching Award, 1999 - 2015, Michigan State University, Flint area Medical Education in Diagnostic Radiology. In 2010, he was appointed as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
In addition to being a renowned radiologist that was appreciated and respected by his patients, residents and peers, he was also a passionate artist. His mediums included acrylic painting, sculpting and assemblage art of which he has created hundreds of works. He also enjoyed woodworking and had a deep passion for gardening where he would spend endless hours in the yard.
Edgardo was a wise, confident, intelligent, and most generous human being. He was devoted to his duties as a husband, son, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. His love for fishing and traveling with his family provided endless memories. He especially loved to travel with his beloved wife to Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, and Europe. He was so loved, cherished, and appreciated by his family, friends, colleagues, and community. He will be deeply missed by all.
Edgardo is preceded in death by his son Edward Lyn Paguio, and parents, Dr. Angel and Priscilla Paguio. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years: Alegria; children: Michael Paguio (Char Smith), Cecilia (John) Garbo and their children Eric and Danielle, Emmanuel (Adriana) Paguio and their children Alexa and Tristan, Ronald (Kristi) Paguio, and Sarah (Aaron) Sutter; sisters: Erlinda Paguio and Emylene Paguio.
Visitation for Edgardo will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 2:30pm-7:00pm at Hill Funeral Home - 11723 S Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 10:00am with a one hour of visitation prior to the mass at Holy Family Catholic Church - 11804 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Interment will be on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery - 2520 W. Willow Street, Lansing, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to be given to Doctors Without Borders in memory of Edgardo.
