Dorothy was born October 5, 1930, in Ionia, Michigan, and was lovingly adopted by Merle W. and Anna Ruth (Emmons) Rowley, of Flint, Michigan. She was a kind, strong and resilient lady. Dorothy, affectionately known as "Dottie," enjoyed reading, antiquing, gardening, and visiting herb farms. Some of her other hobbies included arts and crafts and beachcombing Lake Michigan. Dottie was an avid baseball fan (Go Tigers!), enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, playing Scrabble, and fishing. She believed in prayer, cherished her family, and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Dottie leaves behind her loving husband, Robert; children Deborah (Dave) Kasoff of Swampscott MA, Denise (Randy) Arndt of Benzonia MI, Brian (Michelle) Balius of Curran MI, and Paul E. (Charisse) Balius of Kimball MI; grandchildren Amber Lahring, Nicole Cojeen, Jessie Balius, Dylan (Niki) Arndt, Tanner Balius, Gaige (Nat) Gilbert, Skylar Gilbert, Mackenzie Fournier, Ashley Tovarez, and Paul C. Balius; great-grandson Julian Galbraith; and several nieces and nephews.
Dottie is preceded in death by her husband E. Wesley Balius; infant son John Wesley Balius; her parents Merle and Anna Rowley; and brother Kenneth Rowley.
Visitation for Dottie will be Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 11:00 AM to Noon with funeral service beginning at Noon. Visitations and funeral service will take place at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc MI. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc MI.
