ELLIS, Donald J. – Age 76, of Grand Blanc, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at his home. Mr. Ellis was born August 8, 1936 in Flint the son of Paul and Anna Ellis. He served his country in the U.S. Army with the Alaska C&A Team. Donald was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was a graduate of University of Michigan in Flint and did his post graduate work at Central Michigan University. Mr. Ellis was a member of U. of M. Alumni Association, life member BPOE Elks 222, and a life member, past president and board member of the Old Newsboys of Flint. Donald was also a member of K. of C. Council #11532 3rd degree and K. of C. Council #0510 4th degree. For many years Don was a tailgater at U. of M. football games and he enjoyed golf, gardening, big band and jazz music. He had worked as an administrator for Bath and Body Elements and World Bead Company. He was the owner of Maxfield Cook Inc., in Glenn Arbor, MI., and retired from General Motors after 32 years of service. On June 13, 1959 Donald married JoAnn Milliman and she survives him. Also surviving are children, Matthew (Cathy) Ellis, Dianna (Dean) Bruce; grandchildren, Spencer, Cameron, Sydney and Lyndsey; sister, Elizabeth (Russ) Kipp of California. Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Anna Ellis and his brother, Paul Ellis. Friends may visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hill Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6336 Roberta, Burton, MI. Father Carl A. Simon will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Old Newsboys or EZRA building fund for Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
