Emerton, Constance (Connie) M., age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Lake Orion Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (LONRC), in Lake Orion, Michigan. Beloved wife of the late Robert W. Emerton. Cherished mother of: Greg (Karen) Emerton, Gae (Barry) Bomier, Eric (Mary) Emerton, and Ross (Julie) Emerton. Grandmother of: Kathy Emerton, Courtney (John) Szucs, Brad (Chris) Emerton, Whitney (Jamie) Curtis, Elyse (Brendan) Hathaway, Emily Emerton and Lily Emerton and Great Grandmother of 11. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The daughter of Albert and Ethel Erickson, Connie was born in Iron River, Mi. on February 28, 1922. After graduating from Iron River High School, she moved to Flint, Mi. with her mother and sister, Faye. It was there she met her husband, Robert Emerton. They were married 79 years ago on New Year’s Eve, 1941.
Connie spent her whole life as a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. Connie was always learning. She loved attending Mott Adult Ed. classes; learning something new each term. She was highly skilled in sewing, weaving and smocking. She was a member of the Smocking Arts Guild of America (SAGA) and loved creating special gifts for her entire family.
A member of First Presbyterian Church in Flint, Mi., Connie sang in the Women’s Choir and served as a Choir Mother. Her love for music carried all throughout her life. She particularly adored Frank Sinatra with the song, “Always” being a favorite.
She volunteered as Scout leader and supported her husband and sons in Troop 46 BSA. She was an avid reader, often reading a book a day, but family was the most important part of her life. There was no doubt that she truly loved them all.
A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 2:00pm with Reverend Paul Ytterock officiating. The service will be streamed live on Brown Funeral Home FaceBook for friends and family who wish to attend. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on a future date. Specific details yet to be determined.
