McGurk, Carol Sue, 77. Carol was born in Sterling, Kansas, July 13, 1941. She was the second child of John Andrew and Lela Bell (Sellers) McGurk. She attended Sterling College in Sterling, KA and the University of Denver where she earned her master’s degree in library science. She worked as a librarian for the University of Colorado before coming to work at the Flint Public Library in late 1968. She retired from the library in 1996. Carol was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon and was also involved with the audio recordings of the services. Carol enjoyed travel, biking and nature walks. Carol died after a battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held January 7 at 10 am at First Presbyterian Church of Flint, the Rev. Joseph Novak officiating. She was survived by her sister-in-law, Dr. Karen McGurk, her niece, Suzanne (Hugh) Burnett, her grand nieces Rebecca and Sydney all of Little Rock, and friend Grace Tucker, Flint. Her parents, her brother Dr. Donald John McGurk (Karen) and her nephew John Michael McGurk predeceased her.
