Alva was born in Bancroft, Michigan to the late Alva and Elizabeth (Hempstead) Johnson. He loved to mow the lawn, and enjoyed walking. Alva really loved chocolate, and really loved all candy. Building houses with his son, Ron, was another favorite of his. During the Korean War, Alva served in the United States Army. He was man of strong Christian faith, and he adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alva was a wonderful man, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Alva leaves behind to cherish his memory his children and their families: son Carl Johnson and granddaughter Jackie Lickfelt, and great-grandchildren Jaylin, Jaydin and Jordan; daughter Linda (Mark) Rowan and grandson Nicholas (Amy) Green, and great-grandchildren Natalie, Jorji, Justin and Paisley, grandson Nicholas (Renee) Rowan and great-grandchildren Camden and Elliana, granddaughter Jill (Mike) Willey and great-grandchildren Talon and Finn; son Ron (Nohelia) Johnson and grandson David (Ashleigh) Johnson, granddaughter Kristina Hand and great-grandson Elijah, grandson Adam (Halie) Johnson and great-grandchildren Noah, Mason and Ava, grandson Tim Johnson, granddaughter Katherine (Ryan) Cummings, granddaughter Mary Johnson, grandson Ben Johnson and granddaughter Michelle Johnson.
Alva is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Johnson; son Austin Johnson; grandson Justin Green; great-grandson Logan Johnson; and many brothers and sisters.
A visitation for Alva will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Brown Funeral Home - 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, MI. A funeral service for Alva will take place on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 12:00pm with a one hour visitation prior at Brown Funeral Home, and will be officiated by Pastor Darrell Bailey. Interment with Military Honors will be at Flint Memorial Park in Mount Morris, MI.
