Thomas John Hawes, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 5, 2023, in Orlando, Florida. Born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, Thomas grew up in Versailles, Kentucky, and graduated from Woodford County High School. He attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, before graduating from Boston College. He enjoyed a nearly 30-year successful career at Disney, working in several areas, while recognized for his gift of communication and exceptional service. His last six years were spent as the Community Coordinator for Disney’s Golden Oak.
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Mary Hawes, his sister, Beth Scheitzach and her husband Jeff, nephew Connor, and niece Cameron. He was a dear friend, family member, and colleague to countless people who will miss his beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and positive outlook. Whenever you were with him, he was fully present, gracious, and thoughtful. He had a deep passion for fairness, inclusivity, and the power of love. He loved travel, music, arts, and found joy in helping others. A celebration of life will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home. Those wishing to honor Thomas’s life may make a donation to the Disney Conservation Fund for protecting wildlife and the community or to the Dr. Phillips Center Arts for Every Life Fund to support outreach efforts and make an impact locally.
