Robert “Bobby” Carl Barton, age 53, of Ocoee, Florida passed away on April 25th, 2024. He was born Robert Carl Barton on August 31, 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Stanley “Buddy” Barton and Joy Hamilton Barton. Bobby graduated from West Orange High School, class of 1988, in Winter Garden, Florida.
Bobby and his family moved to Ocoee, Florida when he was 2 years old, which provided a perfect playground for a little mischievous red headed boy. As a child, Bobbly loved to explore and go on adventures, mostly led by his big brother, Scotty. Sneaking into the orange groves and climbing trees was a favorite summer pastime. Setting up army men battles, building forts, racing matchbox cars, playing baseball, and going fishing with his dad, Buddy, were also Bobby’s favorite things to do. The two brothers were inseparable during their younger years and the brotherly bond stayed strong throughout their lives. Although adult life led them miles apart, they always carried the love and respect for each other that was born during their formative years.
During Bobby’s teenage years he found a love of music, mostly hip hop, R&B and new wave. Bobby also found himself as heart throb status, due to his keen eye for the latest stylish clothing, cologne, hairstyle, and physical fitness training, combined with his outgoing personality and fun sense of humor he lit up any room he walked into. His career in hospitality made perfect sense. Bobby worked at Manuel’s, starting as waitstaff, and due to his impressive work ethic, he very quickly moved into the coveted position as host. He made everyone feel like a VIP.
Bobby put the Fun in Uncle and revelled in the silliness and joy his nephews and niece brought to his life. He never forgot a holiday or a birthday. The story, “Uncle Bobby is my Favorite Relative” was a homework assignment written by his nephew that filled him with pride and touched his heart deeply.
Later in life Bobby was a constant companion to his mom, Joy. Bobby and Joy shared their love of animals and movies and spent the rest of their lives dependent on each other. With plans to travel and enjoy Joy's retirement, including an upcoming trip to Disney World, Bobby was devastated by his mother’s sudden passing. It brings the Barton family great peace and comfort to know Bobby and Joy are together in heaven with the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Barton of Altamonte Springs, Florida and Joy Barton of Ocoee, Florida. He is survived by his brother Matthew Scott Barton, sister in law Rene Barton, nephews Maverick and Matthew Barton, and niece Brooke Barton, of Leawood, Kansas and nephew River Barton of Brooklyn, New York. Along with a number of cousins, Aunts, and an Uncle whom he loved dearly.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida. Committal service will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
