Richard “Rick” Phillips was born on October 4, 1965 in Washington D.C. He moved to Florida as a boy and was a graduate of Edgewater High School. He started professionally working as a mechanic at 18 and even had articles written about his skills. He opened his own auto repair shop in 1994 on Orange Ave and then moved his location to Winter Garden. He was a very respected businessman.He was a loving husband to his wife, Laura for twenty years. They shared a deep and never-ending love. His love was unconditional and with meaning. He raised three loving and beautiful children, Richard II, Meghan, and Kyle. He raised his children to be understanding kind, and appreciative. His children were the light in his eyes. He loved watching them in baseball, gymnastics, dance, football, horseback riding, and four wheeling. He shared his love of fishing to his children and it was something that he enjoyed doing with each one of them. He was never afraid to tell his family how much he loved them and how proud he was of them.He loved the outdoors. Most evenings (and mornings before work) you could find him sitting on his front porch watching the nature on his property. He never met a stranger and was loved by many. He had an amazing laugh, a southern perspective in life and incredible “mojo”. He always wanted everyone to be Happy, Happy, Happy.
