I’m Jim modica I worked with Richie at Fairchild Republic until it’s closing in 1985..
About a week after he got in touch with me and four other Fairchild friends to work for him at AIL in Amityville, of course i said ok but “can I have another week off”?  And by the way my wife Toni (she passed away 2014 @ 63) worked there..
Richie knew her, I believe that’s how I got the call?
A funny thing happened, Richie was in his cubicle which I can see from my desk called me, so I turned around and he said come in to see him, I don’t know how I couldn’t keep from laughing out loud! He said look at my feet, well he was wearing one brown boot on one foot and a black loafer on the other! He wanted to know how he could get out of the company without being seen 
So i said put a bag over one foot and limp out like you hurt yourself, it worked nobody noticed!
He was not only a good friend and supervisor he was really a great guy, and it was my pleasure to know him all that time, we did have a lot of laughs… I know it’s a year since his passing but I’m sure he’s still missed very much by family and friends!RIP Pal

To the Gough Family, I used to work with Rich, as he would have me call him at Symbol Technologies before it became Motorola. He was very resourceful and always gave great advice. So sorry for your loss.

I'm jim modica I knew Richie for a long time both at Fairchild and after they closed down . And about a week later I get a call from Rich and he says you ready to go back to work? I said where are you he said AIL I got hired as a supervisor in Production Control. He already started putting a few of us guys who worked at Fairchild. I said Rich I only been out a week, so he said take another week come see me and the boys! Of course he was great to work for and we all liked him a lot. I was very surprised to here he passed. And just a week or so before he probably heard about Mike Daddura who also shocked us all.. I could go on on about some funny stuff Rich did, but that’s for another time..Richie will and is missed by many of us who knew him, just a great guy! God bless his wife, children I’m sure God has plans for him as an organizer, he was good at that!

Mr. Gough was one of the most kind, caring, and phenomenal men that I have ever had the privilege to know. I send my love and thoughts to Mrs. Gough and the entire Gough family. Thank you for sharing your time with me. I pray all the best for you and your family. Much love, Linda De Zago

Maureen, we are sick to hear about Richie’s sickness and passing. We tried to locate you guys on FB several times and succeeded on the day of his viewing. We looked tonight again because I met a former AIL’er at a retirement dinner who worked with him at Zebra. Rich was a generous and gracious man who gave me rides to college, a long friendship, the initial opportunity for a 44 year career and guidance at two companies. He always had my back as he had everyone’s he encountered. He was a gem.  Deepest sympathy to you & your family.

Our hearts and prayers are with you and your family.  We were so lucky to have had you both as neighbors and all the happy memories shared.

My dear Maureen,  I pray that the Holy Spirit will confort your heart. I am very sorry for your loss. Mr. Richard will be very much missed.  He was an angel to Antonella and I. Forever grateful for our friendship and for all the great moments we got to spend together with you both.  We love you!

One of my fondest memories of Richie is what a great bowler he was. He had a little routine when he approached the line where he would wipe the bottom of both of his shoes with his hands and then set up to throw the ball. Rest in love, dear brother in law. I love you.  


I was blessed to have my friend MO’s husband as an acquaintance while living on Long Island. He was a very kind man who exemplified what a husband should be. I admired him and their relationship. Mo may you  find comfort through your faith and family. May “Richie” RIP.

Richie was my “first” cousin, who lived in Babylon, Long Island right across the street from the woman I would eventually marry! Because I was  a 9 year-old from Brooklyn, Richie would refer to me as the “fresh air kid” since I would come out to the “Island” from the inner city to stay with “cuz” for weeks or even the entire summer! Together, we would build model airplanes, play softball between parked cars, play hide-n-seek and have huge crabapple fights picked from neighborhood trees, littering the block with hundreds of these non-culinary squishy berries! Wow, did we get in trouble when the grownups came home! 

We then grew up and started our careers and families, never staying out of touch! As our children grew, we continued to share many birthdays, holidays and special occasions together. Although hundreds of miles apart, we would still call each other and catch up. I can still hear how our telephone conversations would always begin when I called. In a matter of perhaps 1/1000th of a second, the conversation would go like this once he picked up my call:
Richie: “Richie Gough!”
Me: “Ronnie Gough!”
Richie: “Hey, hey!”
And then we would spend an hour catching up! We would share NASCAR stories, bowling accomplishments and family updates. 

I will forever treasure those calls, the visits, the memories and the wonderful chemistry we had together. I will forever miss you cuz, I love you and hopefully one day up in heaven, I will once again hear “Richie Gough”

You taught me how to love, the value of an honest day's work, how to provide, and how to be humble.  You created a family of faith and guided me to Christ.  When I ventured out into the career world and left the nest, you always were a source of support and advice.  Even when I did things against the grain, you were confident in my decisions and didn't try to dissuade me from pursuing my dreams and ambitions.  There are so many people beyond this family who have been blessed because of you.  There is no more pain for you, and you are with the Lord in Heaven now.  I am grateful and blessed to be your son, and during the last few days, I got to hold your hand and tell you how much you mean to me.  Thank you for the amazing Father you were for me.  The "Rock" of our family.
