Miriam Fessler

MIRIAM ALEXANDER FESSLER, “Midge,” age 95, passed away on May 11, 2017 in Windermere, FL. She is now reunited with her husband of 68 years, Charles Wesley Fessler, in heaven. She was predeceased by her parents Sol and Dillie Alexander, of Hot Springs, AK, and her two sisters, Pauline Ragland of Hot Springs, AK, and Irene Youmans of Bowling Green, OH. She leaves behind three sons and their families to cherish her memory: Charles Fessler Jr. (Judy) of Jacksonville, Robert (Susan) of Newberg, OR, and Stephen (Randall Lord) of Windermere, FL; five grandchildren: James Fessler, Deborah Palmer, Laura Wilson, Michael Fessler, David Fessler; and twelve great-grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew.

In WWII Midge danced for the USO entertaining the United States troops. She will be remembered for her warm personality and willingness to always help a friend in need. She loved ballroom dancing with her husband and for decades attended the Jacksonville Symphony Pops concerts. For 26 years, she volunteered for St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, FL along with donating countless hours of her time and gifts to All Saints Nursing Home. Midge was a past president of the women’s section of the German American Club, and was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and Business Women’s association. She moved to Orlando to live with her son and his spouse in 2010. She loved her Orlando church, St. Luke’s United Methodist, and all of her wonderful and devoted friends and pastors. Most importantly, she will cheer on her beloved Gators from Heaven.

Funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 4851 South Apopka Vineland Road in Orlando on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
